Letter from the Managing Partner

9 January, 2024

The Partners and staff wish all of our clients, intermediaries and prospective clients a happy and successful 2024.

Looking back at 2023, our 15th year in business, it has certainly produced its fair share of market challenges, but a strong finish both in relative and absolute terms has left us with healthy risk-adjusted returns for our clients and outperformance from 13 of our 14 core strategies. More detail will follow when Chris Brown, our Chief Investment Officer produces his round up for the year, which we will include in our client valuation packs and also post through the normal mediums in the next fortnight or so. However, do let us know ( if you would like a copy and we can send that to you directly.

I also wanted to let you know about the year for us as a business which has been one of the most exciting in recent times. We launched IPS Wealth at the beginning of January with the arrival of Anne McClean, previously a Partner at Evelyn Partners. Anne and her team’s role is to provide comprehensive holistic financial planning to our clients and the wider private client market. The feedback we are receiving already is exceptional, both directly from clients as well as gaining independent plaudits. It is critical for our clients to receive quality advice around their pension funds and estate planning, and we are now able to deliver this advice comprehensively.

We have been offering investment consulting services to larger family client groups for some years and as a result of increasing demand we launched IPS Consulting as a separate business line. This is a distinct service from investment management, providing input and oversight into third party investment managers, where family groups, professional trustees and charities feel they need impartial counsel acting solely in their best interests. Our competitive advantage comes from being able to draw from our inhouse investment and market expertise, giving us invaluable insight into the strategies and operations of the investment managers employed.

A rebrand of our business is now complete along with the release of our new website ( designed to display our expanded range of services and the values under which we operate. Please take a look – we would be interested in your thoughts.

I am delighted to announce that Simon Moriarty was made up to Partner during the year. Simon joined us in 2018, is one of our lead client relationship managers and a great addition to the Partnership Team.

We remain proud of our independence, with the working Partners owning the firm. This helps us stand distinct from the majority of the private client investment management market in the UK, with our clients’ best interests at the core of the decision-making process.

Thank you to all of our clients, without which we would not exist; to those intermediaries who have supported us over the year and to our team who work tirelessly to deliver exceptional service to our clients.
2024 looks to be another exciting year with more development for the firm underway!

With best wishes,

Jonathan Blain
Managing Partner
